A banquet hall website design project

With over 15,000 monthly searches banquet halls are one of the top searched places in Google and Bing. Hence, ensuring that a Banquet Hall website is found on Google is key for any ballroom business. Furthermore, the user experience of a banquet hall website, will also shape the decision a customer will make.
The least clicks they have to make to request; the more likely they are to choose a business for their event.
Web and Search Combined for Success
Over the last few years search has becoming a leading place for banquet halls to generate leads and increase their chances of creating revenue. But with so many changes in Digital Marketing, being found on Google request more than just a simple description of the business.
In this project I worked as a consultant and brought my team to design and develop the website they are currently using, as well as, a strategy to ensure the chances of a customer finding them on Google are a lot higher.

Phase 1: Branding & Identity
Understanding how all elements work is key
Before we began to design the website, I worked with the client towards understanding the strength and weakness of their brand and their identity system.
As new devices come to live, it is key to ensure there is a consistent look of the identity of the business, where all visuals need to connect and look the same through out all mediums.
We started by ensuring the name of the business was clear on the logo. If someone is to view this logo from far, it needs to be easy to recognize and read.
From here, we began to understand the customers. I worked towards creating the users demographics and outline the goals and needs they have in order to understand what features the website will need and what sort of logo design will appeal more to the specific market.
As a result, we helped the company to revamp their logo and give it a new look that will be more appealing and easy to add on all mediums.
Phase 2: Website Design & Development
Translating the brand and identity into a digital form.
This business has been running for many years. As we began the website design project, they already had a website which was built a few years ago. Hence, I worked towards understanding what was good and bad about the current website before the design of the website began.
From here, I worked towards creating a moodboard and stylescape to show 3 different versions of what the look of the site may be. A calm / light version, a dark version and one that was in between the two other options. Once the client had chosen an option, I began to work on the wireframes and the user experience of the website. This was presented to the client as an interactive wireframe using invision.
From here, the design team at LionDevelopment began to shape the wireframes into design.
Aligning the website with the users
3 Different types of users need to feel comfortable with one website
The strategy session, helped us to understand the 3 main users this website will have. The biggest challenge is that the users fall into two ends of the line. One are teen-age girls looking to have a birthday party or Sweet Sixteen, in the middle we have parents and other adults looking to organize weddings, birthday parties and at the end we have corporate businesses looking to host company meetings and other events in this banquet hall.
Hence, I began to collect items that will resemble with each individual. From images taken by a sub company of the client to typography that is professional, yet playfull to backgrounds that inspire and motive users to look through the website.
To bring in a stronger point and show casing the banquet hall, I worked with the sub company of my client to have a video show casing an event and the entire ballroom in just a few minutes. As a result, we are able to create a stronger engagement between the business and their client. This also helped us to improve time on site as it is a key SEO factor.
Once the website for the banquet hall was completed, we moved on to the Search Engine Optimization of the business in Miami, Florida.
Phase 3: Generating Traffic & Leads
In a very competitive field
While the website was built, I ensured that most of the website was fully capable of helping them rank on Google. Hence, working a search strategy was much easier and faster to accomplish results.
At the start the website ranked at an average position of 43.3 and was getting 450 – 650 average impressions.
I began to optimize the website to ensure that everything on it was capable of performing the website’s objectives. Then, I moved into optimizing titles that were aimed at the three target audience, as well as, ensuring the content had the keywords needed, but was easy to read.
From here, I worked towards creating a backlinks outreach where I was able to generate over 1,500+ niche oriented back links into the website.
Phase 3: Results
The Results speak for themselves
With a few other strategies and the ones described above, I was able to increase the page ranking to 20.3 from 43.3. Furthermore, I was able to drive over 14,000 impressions on a monthly basis, as well as, brand new customers fitting the target market. To ensure this results continue, I began using tools that showed me in depth results of what the users are doing on the website and the behaviour they have when working with the website. As a result, it allowed me and my team to continue enhancing the user experience of the website.
